Of course, the jacket was absolutely horrendous, but the antics that followed between Gilfoyle and Dinesh were the best of the season (“Your shame is my paradise.”) Can we get more singing Kumail Nanjiani in the last two episodes, please?Ĭheck out the spoiler-free synopsis for tonight’s episode titled “Daily Active Users”: Shocking stats are revealed and prompt Richard to bridge the gap between Pied Piper and its users, but Jared must go to extremes to keep everything intact. As we already know, it was not Monica but Erlich.Īlso, I’d really love to know if Silicon Valley‘s make-up team purposefully tries to make Jared look as clammy and sleepless as possible all the time. He says something really awkward that prompts Jared to prod into Richard’s past, but he also urges Richard not to jump to conclusions. When Richard finds out that someone sold a good portion of their Pied Piper shares, via a potential PR hire, Richard immediately thinks it’s Monica who’s betrayed them. In last week’s episode of Silicon Valley, “Bachman’s Earning’s Over-Ride,” we watched as the relationship between Erlich and Richard hit its rockiest point. Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to meet Clippy’s replacement on tonight’s new episode of Silicon Valley? And it's for those reasons that it's still very much worth keeping up with.By Buckie Wells 5 years ago Follow Tweet While occasionally the wrenches in their plans can feel a little forced, the general trajectory of Silicon has been delightfully organic and uniquely zany.

Again, it's impressive how the series has managed to come up with new storylines and episode ideas without making Pied Piper's climb to the top seem stale. In the end, I wouldn't necessarily say Season 3 was the best season of Silicon Valley, but it definitely held up to the previous two. Really a good balance of storylines this season, all around. Other highlights include Jack's antagonistic sales team, Dinesh's gold chain, Gilfoyle's Geek Squad impersonation, Richard's focus group and Jared's jacket. Similarly, I thought Erlich and Richard's dynamic this season was great. That said, the "Bachmanity" storyline did come with the payoff of Erlich buying Pied Piper in the finale, which officially brought him and Big Head back into the fold.
Then there was the entirety of "Bachmanity Insanity," whose romance subplots were only mildly humorous and predictable overall. In fact, for the most part, Erlich as a character felt irrelevant here - and not in the usual, "Haha, he shouldn't be at this meeting" sort of way, although T.J. Most of Erlich and Big Head's business venture had a few funny moments, but it didn't add much to the overarching story. Granted, there were a few so-so B stories that weren't quite as interesting. That's not to mention Gavin's multiple "zoological comparisons" and the untimely death of an elephant. For instance, the online push and pull between Hooli and Pied Piper culminated in Gilfoyle's hilarious "god view" feature, which got Gavin and his Nucleus-but-not-Nucleus minions to pull the plug on their entire system. Meanwhile, Gavin Belson's attempts at course correction after the Nucleus fallout yielded their own funny scenes. Indeed, these first five episodes or so had a lot going for then, and they effectively setup the dominos to fall in the second half. This included several entertaining side bars like the new Pied Piper offices, Jack's infamous "Box," and Richard's failed skunkworks operation. Stephen Tobolowsky's Jack Barker got this season off to a rousing start, as he and Richard vied for the leadership role within the company. Honestly, it's kind of amazing how long this show has been able to keep the guys from becoming successful, but it's still been enjoyable to watch as they stumble and soar through this very niche industry. The same can be said for the new season, Season 3, which took Pied Piper on yet another rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. Silicon Valley is one of those shows I tend not to think about in it's off-time, but whenever it's back I always enjoy it.
